FIRST ALERT: Heat Advisory This Afternoon…. Better chance of storms!

CHARLESTON, S.C. (WCSC) – Our First Alert Weather Days have been allowed to expire as heat index values look to decline in the coming days! However, heat-related challenges will persist through late week, and could cause additional safety issues if precautions are not continued.

A Heat Advisory is in effect for the entire Lowcountry. Heat index values for most should rise to between 105-110° by noon; an isolated reading of up to 115° cannot be ruled out within the Charleston Tri-County.

The coverage of rain and storms will be more widespread this afternoon and evening as a piece of upper-level energy moves into the Carolinas. Severe weather is not expected, but plan for a few pockets of heavy rainfall, frequent lightning and locally strong wind gusts during the evening commute…
