Volunteers working to install hundreds of manufactured reefs on Kiawah Island

CHARLESTON COUNTY, S.C. (WCSC) – Volunteers with the Kiawah Conservancy are working together to restore the Kiawah River watershed marsh by adding 800 manufactured wire reefs.

Sean Cannon, a restoration and enhancement specialist with the Kiawah Conservancy, says the reefs will serve as a living shoreline, a nature-based solution that helps stabilize a shoreline.
