Railroad crossing on Ashley Phosphate Road reopens after repair work

NORTH CHARLESTON, S.C. (WCBD) — A major railway has reopened in North Charleston after crews conducted emergency repair work on the site.

As a result, the area between Southrail Road and Palmetto Commerce Parkway on Ashley Phosphate Road, near Rivers Avenue and Dorchester Road, has also reopened.

Norfolk Southern shut down the crossing in both directions for two days while teams worked to repair it. The railway operator said the repairs were needed to maintain critical rail infrastructure…
