JAMES ISLAND, S.C. (WCBD) – A longtime James Island resident announced this week her candidacy for Charleston City Council District 12.
Deanna Miller, a 20-year resident of James Island, has a deep history of volunteerism in the community, like leading advocacy efforts to help St. Andrews School of Math and Science keep its partial magnet status, and was a fixture in expanding access to the sport of fencing at the James Island Recreation Center.
Miller has served as chairwoman for the discipline committee at James Island Charter High School, mentored students, and served as co-chair on the St. Andrews Improvement Council in the past. She also spent time coaching youth soccer and as an athletic liaison for the James Island Cheer Team…
