Cane Bay shooting victim made several past reports sharing fears about accused killer

BERKELEY COUNTY, S.C. (WCBD) – A woman fatally shot in Cane Bay on Monday afternoon had previously notified authorities several times that she was fearful of her former partner, identified as the Johns Island man accused of killing her, court documents show.

Angel Capers, 38, filed for an order of protection against Jeremy Hewlett, 39, who was her boyfriend at the time, on June 27. The two lived together on Grand View Crossing in the Cane Bay community of Summerville when Capers filed the order.

She wrote in the petition that Hewlett had started acting strangely towards a minor earlier in the year, and then on June 25, he asked the 16-year-old to send pictures of her breasts to him in exchange for $200…
