CHARLESTON, S.C. (WCSC) – A 21-year-old from Columbia completed a long walk to Charleston, raising thousands of dollars for charity along the way.
Thane Herbkersman left the statehouse, trekked more than 120 miles, and arrived at The Battery in about a week. He called it the “Boots to Coast” fundraiser. He took on the physical feat to grab people’s attention and direct that attention to the plight of veterans needing services.
Over the course of his trip, he also raised more than $8,000 for the Wounded Warrior Project. The charity offers mental health resources and helps find job opportunities for veterans who are injured or struggling after their service…
