Inmate dies after being found unresponsive at Charleston County jail

NORTH CHARLESTON, S.C. (WCBD) — An investigation is underway following the death of an inmate at the Charleston County jail.

Deputies responded to the Al Cannon Detention Center shortly before 3 p.m. Monday for reports of an unresponsive inmate, according to the sheriff’s office. The inmate was pronounced dead at the scene.

The Charleston County Coroner’s Office has not yet identified the inmate.
