Autopsy finds no physical trauma in North Charleston woman’s homicide

SUMTER COUNTY, S.C. (WCBD) — After two Lowcountry women were found dead in a Sumter County clearing, autopsy results revealed Wednesday that one of the women suffered no physical trauma when she died.

Kristen Grissom, 38, of North Charleston, underwent an autopsy at the Medical University of South Carolina on Tuesday, which showed she had no physical trauma at her time of death, according to the Sumter County Coroner’s Office.

Her cause of death is pending toxicology results, the coroner’s office said. Both Grissom’s and Christine Marie McAbee’s deaths are being investigated as homicides.

McAbee, 35, of Walterboro, died from a gunshot wound, Coroner Robbie Baker said at a Tuesday press conference.
