Suspect in fatal Cane Bay domestic shooting facing additional charges

BERKELEY COUNTY, S.C. (WCBD) – A Charleston County man is facing additional charges after he allegedly shot and killed his ex-girlfriend in the Cane Bay community earlier this month.

Jeremy Hewlett, 39, was served warrants for kidnapping, possession of a weapon during a violent crime, and attempted murder on Monday, Aug. 11. Additionally, he faces charges for criminal solicitation of a minor, murder, two counts of violation of a court order of protection, stalking, and malicious injury to personal property.

The bulk of the charges stem from Hewlett allegedly breaking into the home of Angel Capers, 38, and shooting her to death on Monday, Aug. 4; however, Capers had been reporting him to law enforcement and court officials for months beforehand…
