A Flood Warning remains in effect for Downtown Charleston, West Ashley, Johns Island and James Island until midnight tonight. Multiple roads are closed due to standing water, and additional closures are likely around tonight’s 9 p.m. high tide, which may exacerbate flooding even if rainfall has paused.
Residents are urged to avoid the peninsula area and postpone non-essential travel citywide until conditions improve on Sunday. Never drive through floodwaters. Driving into flooded roadways, ignoring closures or going around barricades is illegal under City ordinance. The Charleston Police Department will issue citations.
