CHARLESTON, S.C. (WCSC) – Amid a summer of heavy rains, the City of Charleston Department of Stormwater Management says they are not only aware of the desperate need for flooding relief in the medical district but are actively working on the major project, one step at a time.
Director of Stormwater Management Matthew Fountain says it’s a large undertaking that is made up of a few large projects and many more even smaller ones.
“What we’ve tried to avoid doing is saying, okay, we need $400 million to fix flooding in the medical district. Well, we don’t have that, so we’ll do nothing. Instead, we’ve said, all right, let’s start trying to piece off locations and build and funds,” Fountain says…
