Norfolk Southern freight train fatally strikes pedestrian in Summerville: police

SUMMERVILLE, S.C. (WCBD) – A freight train struck and killed a pedestrian Friday night in downtown Summerville, according to police.

Officers were on the scene where an unidentified pedestrian was walking on the tracks near the Main Street crossing by the Summerville Museum, according to the Summerville Police Department.

The pedestrian was struck at 7:26 p.m. by a Norfolk Southern freight train heading eastbound towards Charleston, police said. The intersection at Main Street and Cedar Street was temporarily closed, but has since reopened…
