On Monday, Sept. 1, the 50501 People’s Movement will hold an event along Remount Road in Hanahan near Yeamans Hall Road. The Labor Day gathering is one of more than 2,000 “Workers Over Billionaires” events being organized across the U.S. by labor and community groups. The event. begins at 10 a.m.
Organizers describe the movement as “working people coming together to stop what they call a billionaire takeover — not just through the ballot box or the courts, but through collective action.” They say they are fighting for a country that is fair, just, equitable and free for all — not just a chosen few.
“At a time when Trump and his billionaire friends are turning our government into a slush fund for the wealthy, gutting Medicaid, firing federal workers and ravaging our families through ICE raids, we are coming together to demand ‘workers over billionaires,’” organizers said in a statement…
