Police say inmate hired and paid man to commit murder in 2020, charged with accessory

NORTH CHARLESTON, S.C. (WCIV) — North Charleston Police Department detectives have charged a man for accessory in connection to a 2020 murder case.

33-year-old Darrell Kasey Williams was booked at the Al Cannon Detention Center on Monday, Aug. 25 after being transported from federal prison in Bennettsville, SC. From that prison, NCPD says Williams used a contraband cell phone to hire and pay Quinton Taylor to carry out the murder of De’Andre Rivers in May 2020. NCPD said Williams allegedly made the calls arranging the murder in April and May of that year.

Rivers, a Goose Creek native, was found shot to death in the drivers seat of a car parked on Gullah Avenue just before 5 a.m. on Wednesday, May 6, 2020. Taylor was arrested days later and charged with murder, having already been in custody at the Charleston County jail for unrelated charges…
