Redevelopment in limbo as Charleston Housing Authority denied millions of funds

CHARLESTON, S.C. (WCSC) – The Charleston Housing Authority has goals of renovating or fully redeveloping hundreds of units, but the timelines are up in the air as they’ve been denied for the majority of the federal funding to complete these projects for years.

Charleston Housing Authority tenants have been wanting their conditions to change for months, and with reconstruction on the horizon, the authority hopes the future can include new wiring, plumbing and appliances. Just like what’s already been done at half of the 61 units at Kiawah Homes.
