Police chief orders review after MPD burglary response ‘falls short’ of standards

MOUNT PLEASANT, S.C. (WCIV) — Mount Pleasant Police Chief Mark Arnold ordered a full review of details regarding a Friday morning burglary after the staff made a “judgment call” that “fell short” of department standards.

The review will feature dispatch notes, radio communications and call logs related to the Sept. 5 emergency call that saw the on-duty supervisor defer handling the call to the incoming day shift officers, according to a Mount Pleasant Police Department news release.

“The recent overnight burglary of an occupied home is deeply concerning,” the department said in a statement. “No one in Mount Pleasant should feel unsafe in their own home.”…
