Woman faces 65 years for role in city of North Charleston corruption case

NORTH CHARLESTON, S.C. (WCIV) — A woman is facing a maximum of 65 years in prison Friday, after her connection to the North Charleston corruption case that was exposed earlier this year, was revealed in court.

In the Spring of 2022, DEEP SC applied for the grants and in November of the same year, the city’s Finance Committee met to consider recommendations to award the money. Heyward sat on the committee and voted to recommend to council that the city award funds to profits including DEEP SC, without disclosing his fraudulent agreement with Stent-Hilton and Moten, according to prosecutors.
