FIRST ALERT: Rain, storm chances to rise ahead of a likely tropical system!

CHARLESTON, S.C. (WCSC) – Chances for rain and thunderstorms are expected to climb into the weekend and early next week in advance of a possible tropical threat!

INVEST 94L: Most forecast models are in strong agreement on slow development of a consolidated area of low pressure north of Haiti and Cuba. Our current steering pattern favors a general path to the northwest on Friday, and then to the north this weekend. Further organization is likely to occur through early next week as this system approaches the Southeast.

For the Lowcountry, energy from Invest 94L (likely in the form of a tropical entity, which would be given the name “Imelda”) could impact the region as early as Monday. Through late Tuesday and early Wednesday, strong wind gusts, heavy rain and coastal flooding could occur…
