National gas prices drop while South Carolina sees a slight rise amid storm preparations

LOWCOUNTRY, S.C. (WCIV) — The average price of gas in South Carolina rose in the past week, as the Lowcountry prepared for potential effects caused by now tropical storm Imelda.

According to GasBuddy’s survey of 3,028 stations in South Carolina, gas prices in the state rose 4.4 cents per gallon, for an average of $2.79 per gallon on Monday. Through prices are unchanged compared to a month ago, they are 6.3 cents per gallon lower than a year ago.

The cheapest station in South Carolina was recorded to have a price of $2.51 per gallon Sunday while the most expensive was $3.44 per gallon, just short of a full dollar difference…
