CHARLESTON, S.C. (WCBD) – Spectrum Sailing, a national nonprofit dedicated to maritime education for autistic youth, sets sail in Charleston this week with a free three-day sailing camp.
The program was founded by Scott Herman, who created Spectrum Sailing after struggling to find an inclusive sailing camp for his autistic son. Today, it remains the only national autism-specific sailing program, offering free camps to 250 autistic youth across the country in 2025 alone.
Herman says this organization goes beyond just a sailing camp; it’s an opportunity to empower children with autism.
