Defendant in North Charleston corruption case pleads not guilty to additional charges

CHARLESTON, S.C. (WCIV) — A federal grand jury in Charleston has returned a superseding indictment against a woman already linked to a high-profile North Charleston corruption scheme.

The new charges mark a serious escalation in what prosecutors describe as a sprawling bribery and fraud investigation. In court, U.S. Magistrate Judge Cherry said this appearance was an opportunity to make sure Lorenzo understood the additional charges brought against her. To the additional charges, she pleaded not guilty.
