NORTH CHARLESTON, S.C. (WCSC) – One nonprofit organization is ensuring families have the resources they need ahead of federal cuts in the “Adopt A Community” program.
Nonprofit 501(c)(3) organization Soul Harvest Outreach Ministry began the program four years ago.
The program works to connect families with more than 40 resources and organizations. Soul Harvest Outreach Ministry Executive Director Sylvia Evans says their work focuses on six issues that result in crime and poverty:
- Lack of education
- Food insecurity
- Judicial injustice
- Limited social-emotional well-being
- Limited healthcare access
- Housing instability
