New ConsumerAffairs report ranks Charleston drivers amongst worst in the country in 2025

CHARLESTON, S.C. (WCIV) — Charleston drivers ranked amongst the worst in the country according to a new report from ConsumerAffairs analyzing data from the National Highway Traffic Safety Administration.

The Holy City’s drivers came in as the 10th most dangerous in the country, skyrocketing over 120 places in the rankings from 2024 where it placed 133rd. ConsumerAffairs says the jump is partially due to high rates of fatalities involving drivers operating vehicles under the influence and speeding.

The city has so far recorded 23 traffic deaths in 2025, equal to 15.13 per 100,000 residents and higher than the national average of 12.31…
