Rain doesn’t dampen spirits at Patriots Point’s tribute to 250 years of naval service

MOUNT PLEASANT, S.C. (WCIV) — Patriots Point Naval & Maritime Museum honored the US Navy Saturday, recognizing the service’s 250 year anniversary.

Veterans and their families from across the country ventured onto the USS Yorktown on a rainy Oct. 11 to enjoy special ceremonies, a ceremonial cake cutting, and fellowship amongst other sailors.

The oldest veteran in attendance served in World War II. William Anderson was born in 1927 and enlisted in 1944, serving as a seaman first class on the USS Yorktown through the end of the war…
