Convicted felon arrested in North Charleston for gun possession during traffic stop

NORTH CHARLESTON, S.C. (WCIV) — A convicted felon was arrested for gun possession early Tuesday morning after police discovered a firearm during a traffic stop, according to the North Charleston Police Department.

Armando Zamorano, a 26-year-old was arrested and charged with possession of a firearm by a convicted felon.

The report on the incident states that officers performed a traffic stop on a vehicle near Dorchester Road and Apartment Boulevard at approximately 2:30 a.m., after police reported witnessing the driver perform an illegal U-turn.

During the stop officers stated that they detected a strong odor of marijuana coming from inside the vehicle, prompting a search of the vehicle and its occupants…
