Misconduct complaint filed against top Anglican official, Mount Pleasant church rector

MOUNT PLEASANT, S.C. (WCBD) – Allegations of misconduct, including sexual harassment, have been lodged against the Anglican Church in North America Archbishop Steve Wood, dating back to his time as bishop at a Mount Pleasant church.

The Washington Post reported Thursday that a former children’s ministry director at St. Andrew’s Anglican Church had accused Wood, 62, of trying to forcibly kiss her in April 2024, just two months before his appointment as archbishop for the Anglican Church in North America.

She also claimed Wood gave her around $3,500 of church funds over several months before the near-kiss incident, starting in 2021. During the time of the woman’s allegations, Wood was serving as bishop at St. Andrew’s. Wood has served in some capacity at St. Andrew’s since he was installed as rector on Sept. 1, 2000…
