Town of Moncks Corner receives $1M+ in funds to accommodate SC population growth

MONCKS CORNER, S.C. (WCSC) – The Town of Moncks Corner has received funding from the South Carolina Department of Transportation to expand pedestrian walkways and improve road safety as the area continues to grow.

The funds, more than $1.2 million, come from the Transportation Alternatives Program which supports local infrastructure projects that promote pedestrian and bicycle access.

Town officials said the project will include construction of a 6-foot-wide sidewalk that will stretch roughly 8,600 feet along R.C. Dennis Boulevard and Stony Landing Road. The walkway will connect four large residential neighborhoods and link existing sidewalks near Old U.S. 52…
