New city ordinance could prohibit oversized motor buses south of Broad St.

CHARLESTON, S.C. (WCBD) – A new ordinance proposed by a City of Charleston council member could ban large buses from driving in certain areas of downtown Charleston.

There have been several incidents in the past few years involving large coach buses, according to Councilman Mike Seekings, who chairs the city’s Traffic and Transportation Committee.

“In the last six months, I can think of two specifically where we’ve had a large oversize vehicle south of Broad that got stuck underneath oak trees,” Seekings recalled. “And the worst part of it was the oak tree was the unfortunate victim of it all.”…
