International African American museum unveils exhibit on family histories, slavery impact

CHARLESTON, S.C. (WCIV) — The International African American Museum will premiere its new Speaking Truth exhibit Monday, showcasing reflections on the truths of some family histories and the lasting impacts of slavery.

This exhibit, donated by Speaking Truth which is an Arizona-based reconciliation project, is permanently housed in the IAAM’s Center for Family History. The exhibit will feature 52 testimonials from Americans discussing their families’ connections to enslavement, the prolonged impact, and how amends can be made.
