Restaurateurs Johnny and Kasie Curiel of Colorado-based Fonda Fina Hospitality will bring their take on Mexican cuisine to Charleston next summer. The team runs Alma Fonda Fina, Cozobi Fonda Fina, Mezcaleria Alma, and Alteño. Their establishments have garnered multiple awards, including a Michelin star, a spot on North America’s 50 Best Restaurants, a James Beard finalist spot, and more.
The Curiel’s new restaurant will be on the ground floor of 89 Cannon Street, which is home to the mixed-use development the Charlee.
“Much of my cooking draws from Mexico’s coastal traditions, so it feels natural to connect that with Charleston’s own deep coastal identity,” says Johnny, “We’re excited to highlight the region’s beautiful local ingredients through our cultural lens. For us, choosing Charleston was a deeply personal decision. The warmth and welcome we’ve already felt from this community make our family excited to call it our home away from home.”…
