Charleston, South Carolina – The Charleston Police Department reported on Thursday that Detective Melvin Magwood, a 26-year veteran, had died.
In 1994, Detective Magwood began patrolling the streets of downtown Charleston for CPD. While on patrol, he educated incoming Charleston police and received countless letters of gratitude from the citizens he served.
Magwood joined the Central Detective Bureau four years later and was commended for his efforts to apprehend an armed robbery suspect in 2011. Magwood and his Special Victims Unit team were nominated for Team of the Year in 2012 for their work…
