Star Gospel Mission to construct transitional housing for the homeless

CHARLESTON, S.C. (WCBD) – The City of Charleston voted to approve funding for several transitional housing units for people experiencing homelessness on Wednesday.

Leaders say it’s a show of humanity and compassion in Charleston. They are hoping to change the lives of many families and individuals.

The city is transferring anywhere from $1.5-1.9 million to Star Gospel Mission to assist with this project. Through a mixed-use workforce housing ordinance, the developer, Courier Square, will pay for part of it…
