New BBQ Sports Bar, Blu Smoke Pit, Opens on Johns Island with Smoked Meats and Seafood

Blu Smoke Pit is located at 1804 Crowne Commons Way on Maybank Highway on Johns Island, South Carolina. The restaurant opened after a recent rebranding from Blu Oyster. It now offers a BBQ sports bar concept while keeping some seafood options. The owner, Rick Agius of Black Sheep Hospitality, also operates Garage 75 and Zeppelin Pizza Co. in the Charleston area.

The restaurant’s menu features smoked meats, oysters, and a selection of alcoholic beverages. While the focus is now on barbecue, seafood items such as oysters on the half shell, oysters Rockefeller, and chargrilled oysters remain available. The space includes 24 big screen TVs, a covered patio, and two bar areas. It is set up for both dining and watching sports.

Menu items include smoked brisket, ribs, turkey, and house-made sausages. These are served with sides like mac and cheese, collard greens, and a brisket and beans blend. The smoked meats are prepared by pit-masters with experience, including Agius’s 13 years at Smoky Oak Taproom.
