Embattled dance studio in Mount Pleasant accused of withholding refund

MOUNT PLEASANT, S.C. (WCIV) — An embattled Mount Pleasant dance studio is facing an additional claim that it failed to process a refund to a client totaling more than $600, according to a police report.

The Dance Arts Studio, which faced allegations of fraud in mid-August, allegedly took a check for $701.25 on July 25 from a woman who paid the owner for a full semester of classes and a Christmas dance recital. On Aug. 8, the individual received an email that the studio was closing and she would be receiving a refund, according to a police report from the Mount Pleasant Police Department.

By Sept. 8, she emailed regarding a refund and hadn’t heard anything back. That email was followed up on on Sept. 25, and again, the individual didn’t hear back. The following day, the individual received an email claiming that the studio owner had an attorney and all other questions should go through those means…
