CHARLESTON, S.C. (WCSC) — A second attempt to rezone a well-known horse farm along Bees Ferry Road will go before Charleston County leaders Thursday, restarting a debate on growth, affordability and strained infrastructure in one of West Ashley’s fastest developing corridors.
Storybook Farms, a 10.86 acre family-owned property at Bees Ferry and Bear Swamp Roads, has been zoned R-4, low density residential, since 2006. A new application headed to the County Council Planning and Public Works Committee Thursday night proposes shifting the property to UR, Urban Residential, which would allow up to 16 homes per acre versus the current max of four single-family dwellings.
TBC Land Development, a Mount Pleasant based developer, told the county planning commission in October that its plan would cap the total number of units at 100 townhomes.
