Lowcountry groups organize to distribute over 10 tons of food for Thanksgiving giveaway

CHARLESTON, S.C. (WCIV) — Molina Healthcare of South Carolina will be joining forces with the Charleston Hispanic Association, Community Impact Outreach and South Carolina Department of Health and Environmental Control, to distribute food to families in need on Saturday.

As the Thanksgiving holiday nears, individuals facing food insecurity feel extra pressure to be able to put food on the table. According to Molina, 51,000 people in Charleston county are considered food insecure.

Organizations across the Charleston area are working to ease that burden by providing 500 turkeys and over 10 tons of food to be given away to those in need…
