CHARLESTON, S.C. (WCSC) — Dozens of South Carolina families took a life-changing step Monday as family courts across the state, including in downtown Charleston, opened their courtrooms to finalize public adoptions in honor of National Adoption Day.
Inside the Charleston Family Courthouse, the anticipation was tangible as families like the Lombardis answered questions before a judge, the final step in a journey years in the making. The couple, who run a ministry in the area, leaned on the same faith that guides their outreach work as they prepared to officially welcome two young boys into their home.
