Ladson man sentenced for weapons, drug charges following 2023 shooting

CHARLESTON, S.C. (WCSC) — A U.S. District Judge sentenced a Ladson man after pleading guilty to several gun-related charges.

Jaidan Latrell Alexander, 26, pleaded guilty to possessing firearms in furtherance of drug trafficking crimes and possession of marijuana with intent to distribute.

Investigators presented evidence in the court that showed that he obtained multiple guns through a straw purchasing scheme that involved a family member. However, Alexander was prohibited from possessing guns because of his prior convictions, the United States Department of Justice says. They also recovered evidence on social media that showed him involved in narcotics distribution and him being arrested several times while armed.

He exchanged gunfire outside his apartment during an attempted robbery on April 23, 2023, according to court records. Inside the apartment, investigators located guns, illegal drugs and equipment used to package and distribute narcotics…
