CHARLESTON COUNTY, S.C. (WCBD) – A final settlement was approved Tuesday in a wrongful death suit filed by a groom who lost his bride in a DUI golf cart crash that happened on Folly Beach in 2023.
Jamie Komoroski’s vehicle insurer will pay $160,000 to Aric Hutchinson, whose wife, Samantha Miller (Hutchinson), was killed when an intoxicated Komoroski rear-ended the golf cart the couple was riding in as they traveled back from their wedding party on Apr. 28, 2023. Hutchinson was also seriously injured in the crash.
Of the $160,000, Hutchinson will receive a net total of $104,586.67, while the remaining funds will be used to pay attorney fees and related costs. The settlement is the final in a wrongful death suit Hutchinson filed against several Folly Beach bars and other businesses, in addition to Komoroski, who was reportedly “bar hopping” before the crash occurred…
