Helping the unhoused: ‘It’s the reason that I’m alive’ woman gives back after struggle

NORTH CHARLESTON, S.C. (WCIV) — Two years ago, Emily’s life looked very different.

She was unhoused, deep in addiction and unsure how she would survive another day. On Friday, she’s celebrating more than two years of sobriety, and she’s choosing to spend her new life walking the same streets where she once struggled, this time to help others find hope.

“About two and a half years ago, I was actually homeless on the streets,” Emily said. “I was in active addiction, my life was very much dark, very hopeless. I felt very alone.”…
