CHARLESTON COUNTY, S.C. (WCBD) – A final settlement was approved this week in a wrongful death suit filed by a groom who lost his bride in a 2023 DUI golf cart crash in South Carolina.
Jamie Komoroski’s vehicle insurer will pay $160,000 to Aric Hutchinson, whose wife, Samantha Miller (Hutchinson), was killed when an intoxicated Komoroski rear-ended the golf cart in which the couple was riding on Apr. 28, 2023, as they traveled back from their wedding party. Hutchinson was also seriously injured in the crash, which happened on Folly Beach.

Of the $160,000, Hutchinson will receive a net total of $104,586.67, while the remaining funds will be used to pay attorney fees and related costs. The settlement is the final in a wrongful death suit Hutchinson filed against several Folly Beach bars and other businesses, in addition to Komoroski, who was reportedly “bar hopping” before the crash occurred.
Hutchinson’s attorney certified the settlement on his behalf on Tuesday, according to Charleston County court records. In exchange, Komoroski is released from further civil claims…
