Man facing charges after fleeing from North Charleston Police

NORTH CHARLESTON, S.C. (WCSC) — A convicted felon is facing several charges after they recovered a gun from a man who allegedly fled from North Charleston Police officers Sunday afternoon.

Corey Jamar Robinson, 44, is charged with possession of a firearm by a convicted felon, simple possession of marijuana, public drunkenness and riding a bicycle the wrong direction on a sidewalk, according to jail records.

Officers saw a man allegedly riding a bicycle in the middle of the roadway, which appeared to distract the drivers at 3:45 p.m. When they made contact with him, he fled on his bike toward Captain Avenue.

Robinson then got off the bike and ran into a nearby front yard, where officers said he reached into his pants, pulled out a gun and attempted to dump it after he ducked behind a parked van. They later located the gun and took him into custody…
