JAMES ISLAND, S.C. (WCIV) — The Charleston County Sheriff’s Office is still searching for leads five years after 22-year-old Nygel Covington was shot and killed on James Island.
Covington was one of two people shot on the night of Dec. 20, 2020. The other victim survived, but Covington was found dead on a dirt road off of Secessionville Road.
At the time, detectives determined that the other victim had a visitor he knew in his garage. After the visitor stepped out, the garage door opened and a disguised gunman fired into the garage, CCSO said. The surviving victim retreated into his home and Covington was fatally struck…
