A C-17 Globemaster III from the 437th Airlift Wing at Joint Base Charleston experienced a nose gear collapse during landing at Charleston International Airport around 8:30 p.m. on Thursday, December 18, 2025. No injuries occurred, and the runway sustained no damage.​

Incident Details

The aircraft safely touched down on runway 15/33 despite the gear failure, prompting a temporary closure for aircraft removal and safety checks. By 8:45 a.m. Friday, crews towed it to a hangar, allowing full runway operations to resume after inspections.​

Airport Impact

Runway 03/21 stayed open, minimizing disruptions, with most flights on schedule. The incident was not declared an emergency.​
