Charleston County detectives seek information in 2020 James Island homicide

CHARLESTON COUNTY, S.C. (WCSC) — Charleston County detectives are asking for the public’s help in finding information on a homicide in 2020.

Deputies responded at about 8:45 p.m. on Dec. 20, 2020, to a shooting on Secessionville Road. When deputies arrived, they found a victim on the front porch of a home and found a second victim, 22-year-old Nygel Covington, dead on a nearby dirt road, according to the Charleston County Sheriff’s Office.

The victim found on the front porch, determined as Robert Royale, had a visitor he knew in the garage. When the visitor stepped out, and the garage door was raised, a disguised gunman began to shoot into the garage.
