NORTH CHARLESTON, S.C. — Neighbors Together hosted its annual holiday giveaway Saturday, serving hundreds of people as demand for food, clothing and basic necessities continues to rise across the Lowcountry.
Organizers said the event took more than a week of preparation, with volunteers and staff coordinating donations, logistics and registration ahead of one of the nonprofit’s largest events of the year.
“This is a week to two week long process of long days, a lot of organizing,” said Mickey Bakst, a board member with Neighbors Together. “Everybody needs to be registered so that we can make sure we know who we’re serving.”…
