240+ cats, dogs adopted in holiday campaign

MORNING HEADLINES | More than 20 dozen cats and dogs got new homes over the holidays in a Charleston Animal Society (CAS) adoption campaign that saw 13 pets delivered to homes on Christmas Day.

Through the society, families adopted 246 cats and dogs from its Charleston and Berkeley county shelters, according to reports. The story was similar in Greenville, where the Greenville Humane Society had 255 adoptions in December.

“Nobody wants (these animals) sitting in cages, and this helps us bring them to the forefront, to help the public see the amazing animals we have every single day,” said CAS spokesperson Kay Hyman. “This adds a little bit of a fun holiday twist to it.”…
