NORTH CHARLESTON, S.C. (WCIV) — Community members plan to gather Monday in North Charleston for a vigil honoring people who have died while in custody at the Charleston County jail, marking the third anniversary of the death of D’Angelo Brown.
The vigil, organized by the Lowcountry Action Committee, is scheduled for 3 p.m. at Ralph M. Hendricks Park and will commemorate 23 people who have died at the Al Cannon Detention Center over the past decade, organizers said.
Among those being remembered is Mary Brucato, who died Aug. 11 while incarcerated at the jail. Her death, which authorities said was caused by fentanyl and cocaine withdrawal, was recently ruled a homicide…
