Amid cries for justice and responsibility, a vigil is scheduled to draw attention to “neglect” at Al Cannon jail.

A vigil organized by the Lowcountry Action Committee will honor 23 individuals who died at the Al Cannon Detention Center over the past decade, marking the third anniversary of D’Angelo Brown’s death in December 2022.​

Event Details

The event runs from 3 to 5 p.m. on Monday at Ralph M. Hendricks Park, 5250 Virginia Ave., North Charleston, South Carolina. Activities include reading names of the deceased, community testimonials, candle lighting, and calls for transparency and accountability. Attendees are encouraged to bring candles, photos, and signs.​
