MOUNT PLEASANT, S.C. (WCBD) – A portion of the Pitt Street Bridge will temporarily close in January to accommodate construction-related activity, town officials said.
The closure will begin on Jan. 5, according to the Town of Mount Pleasant. Roughly 600 feet of the causeway will stay open for the public; however, the remaining section, including the back half of the bridge, will be closed for what the town called exploratory digging.
“This work is necessary to gain a better understanding of the bridge’s original construction, which will help inform and support future repair efforts,” the town said.
